River Stour Boating Community Interest Company,
based in Bures St Mary was set up by three retired friends to help to
improve the navigation of the
River Stour for light craft such as canoes and rowing boats, oh, and of
course coracles. We would like to improve portage at the thirteen weir sites
to make it easier and safer for users of light craft to traverse around the
weirs. To this end all access profit will go to achieving this aim.
We formed the company at the end of 2006 which is a 'not for profit'
Community Interest Company (CIC) which means that all the members are
volunteers in much the same way that the River Stour Trust is managed.
We have five Canadian canoes, Minibus and boat trailer and provide two day
guided trips down the River Stour from Sudbury to Cattawade with an
overnight stop at Wissington. we provide everything from canoes and safety
equipment to tents, food en route and return journey from Cattawade in our
Minibus.
