D.A.S.H.

The Disablement And Self Help Club (D.A.S.H.) was formed on Tuesday 27 January 1988 by Mr David Doughty and Mrs May Plume. It took a year of talks with social services and others to get the club started and from then on it has been a great asset for disabled people. D.A.S.H. is funded by Bury Social Services and Suffolk Health Authorities and is run by a committee of 5 people, 1 organiser, 2 helpers and a treasurer. We also raise any other funds by fetes, stalls, raffles and, for the last few years, generous donations from project 7 and other local organisations.

D.A.S.H. has been going for 15 years and now has 35 members who are MS sufferers, heart victims, people who have had strokes, work accident victims, diabetics and arthritis sufferers. D.A.S.H. members take part in tenpin bowling, indoor bowls, painting, cards, board games, darts, sewing, woodwork and go on many outings.

The D.A.S.H Club chose the Stevenson Centre in Great Cornard because there is plenty of parking spaces and no dangerous roads to cross. If you are aged 16 to 65, feel like some company, a nice cup of tea and a roll then come and meet us on any Tuesday or Thursday from 9:30am to 1:00pm or contact me, Nicola Pollard, on (01787) 379898.
