SUDBURY RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL CLUB

STATE OF THE ART

In September 2009 Sudbury Rugby Club moved from its long time home at Moorsfield in Rugby Road to its new state-of-the-art clubhouse & ground at Whittome Field, Spicers Way on the new Persimmon Homes development in Great Cornard, Sudbury, Suffolk.

The facilities at the clubs new headquarters will include a new clubhouse and floodlit pitches that will rank amongst the best in the Eastern Region. The new Clubhouse will offer a new Function Room, Kitchen and ‘Snug Bar‘ as well as six large changing rooms with facilities for Male & Female players. There is also a bigger Gym to encourage general fitness for players and non-players alike and a First Aid / Physio Treatment Room. Eventually the club will also have access to 5 rugby pitches to cope with its growing membership, especially at Mini & Youth Rugby.

The club offers Rugby for Children from age 7 upwards and has teams at every age group to under 19's and currently has around 200 Minis & Youth members. The club encourages all of its coaches to achieve RFU coaching qualifications and last season was a very successful season. Its also has Girls teams at under 15 & Under 18.

Sudbury RFC’s Men’s 1st XV compete in London League 2 North East, and this season will compete against local rivals Colchester, Mersea Island, Ipswich and Braintree. The club also runs a Development / 2nd XV and is aspiring to re-run a 3rd XV (numbers allowing) along side the clubs Veteran ‘Dinosaur’ team. The club welcomes new players whatever the age or ability or experience.

With the new clubhouse the club is hoping to be able to hire its fantastic new function room for Weddings, Party’s and Functions at competitive rate to local residents and companies. More information can be found on the clubs website which is www.sudburyrfc.com

If your at a loose end on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday morning and fancy a breath of fresh air why not pop down and check out our new facilities – we believe it’s a facility of which the whole community will be proud.
