Victim Support

Have you heard the rumour?

The Government is trying to abolish Sheep Dog Trials. They want the Sheep Dogs tried in Magistrates Court. Boom! Boom!

On a far more serious note, Victims of Crime and Witnesses in Court often need support and the person who could help them may be YOU. Victim Support Suffolk Volunteers provide practical help, support and information to victims, witnesses, their families and friends.

The majority of victims who are helped Victim Support are automatically referred by the Police, however people can refer themselves and the volunteers help victims of crime in different ways. As well as someone to talk to volunteers are trained to give information on Police procedures, help with compensation & insurance claims and crime prevention advice.

The Witness Service Volunteers provide support and information about the court process to witnesses, victims and their families before, during and after the trial. Also witnesses can have an informative visit to the courtroom before the trial.

All volunteers are given full training and out-of-pocket expenses. So if you are patient, non-judgemental and keen to learn new skills then this could be the job for you. And the joke at the beginning? Well, a sense of humour is essential!
