George Bishop

George Bishop, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on 31 May 2002, was a well-liked and valued member of the Editorial Board of Cornard News.  His cordial and positive outlook was a real asset in his position as Advertising Manager. He took up painting when he retired and many people have one of his pictures, usually of the countryside or the sea. He loved giving little gifts and when he visited Bury market he couldn't resist a bargain but then gave away most of the fruit or vegetables he bought because they were as he said "too much, just for me".

He was always willing to help out a neighbour or friend whatever the problem, as many residents of Nursery Road will testify, and he loved sharing a joke and laugh with everyone. We will all miss you George and I like to think that you are still telling your tales and cracking jokes to another, much wider audience now.
